BCB in trouble with DRS due to engineer's quarantine complexity

The Bangladesh-Windies series will start on January 20 with the first ODI. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has arranged a Decision Review System (DRS) for this series. However, the engineer who will be in charge of DRS management may not have DRS from the first match due to his obligation to stay in quarantine.

 The head of the media committee of the BCB Jalal Yunus informed this. He said at the TV rights announcement ceremony in Gulshan on Monday that an engineer would come from London to manage the DRS. As the coronavirus situation in England is not good, 14 days quarantine is mandatory for all those coming from that country.

Due to this, DRS may not be available from the first ODI between Bangladesh and Windies. However, the BCB will try to reduce the quarantine period of the concerned engineer. If that is not possible, the DRS system will be available from the second ODI to be held on January 22 in Mirpur.

Regarding this, Jalal Yunus said, "DRS must be there. But in the case of DRS, one issue is that our engineer is supposed to come from London. You know there are covid protocols for England returnees. The first 4 days out of 14 days should be in isolation. That means you have to stay in government isolation for 4 days. And he will be able to stay in his own system for 10 days."

"We have appealed to the health ministry to reduce it. At the same time, we have talked to the Covid Authority, who look after it. If we get an engineer on time, it could be on the 20th. If you can finish everything on time, maybe DRS won't be a problem. Otherwise, the problem of DRS will be solved after this match."

Bangladesh-Windies will play the first two ODIs on January 20 and 22 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. Tamim Iqbal's side will face the Caribbean in the third and final ODI on January 25 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.
