The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has dissolved the executive committees of 29 District Football Associations (DFAs) following proven allegations of irregularities.
The decision was finalised on 11 December during BFF's second executive committee meeting, presided over by its president, Tabith Awal.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Amirul Islam Babu, a member of the executive committee and chairman of the media committee, stated, "The DFA Monitoring Committee of BFF investigated allegations against 35 District Football Associations. Of these, irregularities were confirmed in 29 cases, resulting in the dissolution of their executive committees. Ad-hoc committees will be formed to take over their operations."
The names of the 29 DFAs whose committees were dissolved have not been officially disclosed by BFF.
The meeting, which lasted over three and a half hours, also produced several other noteworthy decisions.
These include the establishment of a 'Football Referees Academy' to enhance refereeing standards, hosting the Bangladesh Championship League with at least eight teams, and cancelling relegation for the 2023–24 season.
Additionally, the honorarium for referees will be increased until 2025, and the contract of BFF General Secretary Imran Hossain Tushar has been extended by two years.
