SAFF U-20 women’s championship postponed, Bangladesh remains host for July 2025
Bangladesh will also host the SAFF U-17 tournaments for both boys and girls later in the year.
The SAFF U-20 Women's Championship, originally planned for February 2025, has been postponed and will now take place from 1 to 11 July 2025.
The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) confirmed the revised dates on 17 December, aligning the tournament with the updated 2025 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) calendar.
The AFC's schedule reshuffle for age-group competitions prompted SAFF to revise its tournament dates to ensure better preparation opportunities for participating nations.
Typically, SAFF's age-group events are seen as platforms to gear up for AFC competitions, which made the rescheduling a necessary step.
Bangladesh remains the host for the U-20 women's championship, and matches are expected to take place at Dhaka's iconic Bangabandhu National Stadium.
The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) had initially raised concerns about the venue's availability due to ongoing renovation work.
However, the new July timeline allows ample time for the stadium to be ready, ensuring the tournament proceeds smoothly.
Ahead of the U-20 women's event, the SAFF U-19 Championship will be held in India from 8 to 18 May 2025.
Bangladesh will also host the SAFF U-17 tournaments for both boys and girls later in the year.
The U-17 girls' championship will take place from 14 to 24 September, followed by the U-17 boys' championship from 17 to 27 October.
