Matthijs de Ligt has won the Kopa Trophy as the best young player from France Football. He received the award from last year's winner Kylian Mbappe.

De Ligt earlier won the Tuttosport Golden Boy award in 2018.

Also, the last three spots of the Ballon d'Or 2019 top ten has been announced where Manchester City's Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez has come out 10th, with his teammate Portuguese Bernardo Silva at nine. Bayern Munich's prolific Polish striker Robert Lewandowski came out eighth.

The winner of the Ballon d'Or 2019 will be announced later on the program. It has been rumoured that it will be a record sixth time for Lionel Messi, not the first for Virgil Van Dijk.
