Groin pain sees Parvez Emon cut from preliminary squad

Parvez Hossain Emon, one of the key members of Bangladesh's Under-19 World Cup winning side, has been called up to the 24-member preliminary squad for the ODI series against the West Indies. He received the reward for some sublime form in the Bangabandhu T20 Cup.
The southpaw smashed a 42-ball hundred in the tournament, the fastest by a Bangladeshi in T20 cricket. Despite not considering him for the final squad, the management wanted to play him in the warm-up games. But the 18-year old has been excluded from the squad because of injury.
Habibul Bashar, one of the selectors, has confirmed the news to The Business Standard (TBS), saying, "He has been suffering from an old injury. His groin pain has recurred. Now he has to go to hospital for scans. If he goes there, he has to isolate himself for three days before joining the team. Also, he needs time to recover. That's why we are not keeping him in the team."
