How inability to hit a boundary in last BPL final has transformed Hridoy as a T20 batter
There is impressive improvement in power hitting. Hridoy, who won the team by scoring a half-century in the second match, led the team with the bat in the third match as well and won the player-of-the-match award, scoring his second consecutive half century.
Comilla Victorians and Fortune Barishal faced each other in the final of the last season of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). The responsibility fell on Towhid Hridoy's young shoulders in difficult times as the right-handed batter dropped to number eight and remained unbeaten with 9 runs from 9 balls.
But Barishal lost by 1 run. Hitting a four would have changed the outcome of the match, but Hridoy could not get the ball away.
Hridoy, this season, is playing for Sylhet Strikers. He did not have to bat in the first match but played the role of saviour in the next two matches.

This 22-year-old cricketer has radically changed himself in all aspects, including not only running, but starting from shot selection, increasing the ability to play shots, increasing the range, and timing the ball. The regret of not hitting a four in last season's final transformed Hridoy and he has finally started to get the results.
"When I was playing badly last year, I was trying to improve. Since then, whenever I got a chance, I tried to improve a little bit in T20s, worked on some shots. By changing some small things, it is getting better."
"I tried to improve on range hitting. I did not play well but the cricket board kept me in the set-up. When I got these opportunities, I tried to go a little further. I am very grateful to the cricket board for keeping me even though I did not play very well."
"I was very disappointed mentally after losing that match in BPL. If I could have hit a boundary, the game would have changed. Although I'm not a batter at that position. However, as a batter, you have to try to take the team forward at whatever position you bat. I was confident till the last ball that I would win the match, but I couldn't."
Expressing his feelings after winning his team two games, he said, "Alhamdulillah for back-to-back awards. I was confident today, thought maybe if I started well I could finish the game."
