Middle-order batter Towhid Hridoy harbours the dream of helping Bangladesh reach the semi-final of the upcoming T20 World Cup, starting next month in the West Indies and the USA.
Hridoy, who won the Under-19 World Cup for Bangladesh in 2020, wants to emulate the success with the senior team.
"I don't have a personal goal. I want the team to do well," Hridoy said in a video released by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on its social media. "I will try my best to contribute to the team. I want my team to reach at least the semi-finals."
"I can still feel what happened in the U-19 World Cup. Now it's time we did that with the senior team. If we can do well collectively, then I think the time is not far away," he added.
Four of the U-19 World Cup winners will be part of Bangladesh's T20 World Cup journey. On that, Hridoy said, "The members of that U-19 side in the team – all are important. Everyone is quite aggressive. [Tanzid Hasan] Tamim, [Tanzim Hasan] Sakib, Rishad [Hossain] are game-changers. Everyone is stubborn. We want to emulate that success," he said.
