The biggest news today in the Bangladeshi cricketing fraternity has been that of former captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza not being selected in the preliminary ODI squad for the upcoming series against West Indies later this month.
Even though there have been plenty of occasions where the longest-serving ODI captain for Bangladesh missed selection due to injury, this is the first time he has been dropped even after being fit.
The 37-year-old, however, is not holding any grudges or gripes after missing out on selection and is rather hoping the decision by the team management is for the best.

The all-time leading wicket-taker in ODIs for Bangladesh has however reiterated that he would be playing professional cricket and had no plans for retirement yet.
"This is a professional decision taken by the team management. I am taking this decision professionally too. There is nothing more to say. I have previously said that I will continue playing cricket even if I didn't get selected in the national team and I'm not thinking about anything else at the moment," Mashrafe told The Business Standard (TBS).
Although this news could come as a blow, Mashrafe was trying to keep his spirits up and upon receiving the news and said upon the phonecall from TBS: "I'm having sweets to celebrate being dropped."

Bangladesh are set to take on West Indies in three ODIs and two Tests and the ODI series begins on January 20 while the second and final Test begins on February 11.
