Imranur sets personal best, moves into Asian Athletics semis

At the 25th Asian Athletics Championships, held on Thursday at the Suphachalasai Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, sprinter Imranur Rahman of Bangladesh set a personal best to advance to the 100-meter sprint semifinals.
In Heat-1, which also included sprinters from Malaysia, Japan, Vietnam, Korea, Jordan, and Turkmenistan, the nation's fastest man finished in second place with a time of 10.25 seconds, after Ryuichiro Sakai of Japan.
The previous record held by Imranur was 10.29 seconds, which he set at the Summer Athletics Championships in September of last year.
He finished sixth overall out of 40 participants and is predicted to advance to the final if he keeps up his pace in tomorrow's semifinals.
Hiroki Yanagita of Japan took first place with a time of 10.10 seconds in Heat-4, which was a personal best.
