India vs Bangladesh, 2nd Test, day 3: Play called off without a ball being bowled due to wet outfield
Though there was no rain all day, umpires made three on-field inspections (10 am, 12 pm and 2 pm) and eventually deemed the outfield not suitable for playing.
The play was called off for the third day without a ball being bowled due to a wet outfield on Sunday during the second Test between India and Bangladesh at Kanpur.
Though there was no rain all day, umpires made three on-field inspections (10 am, 12 pm and 2 pm) and eventually deemed the outfield not suitable for playing.
Only 35 overs were possible on the first day of the Test before rain came and it persisted on the second day as well.
As a result, no play was possible on days two and three in the ongoing Test and that leaves Bangladesh on 107-3 and with a great chance to draw the Test against the hosts.
It could be a costly blow for India as they look to get a top-two spot in the World Test Championship and have a Test series against Australia coming up.
They are currently at the top of the table, but could lose their grip of the top spot if result don't go in their favour.
Bangladesh have an outside chance of a top-two spot with two home Tests coming up against South Africa, a team they have never defeated in Tests.
