Ismail and Shirin become the fastest man-woman in 100m sprint
Both Ismail and Shirin retained their superiority in the Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Games. They emerged as the fastest man and woman of the country after winning their respective 100-metre sprint titles of the 44th National Athletics Championship held in January this year.
Mohammad Ismail Hossain of Bangladesh Navy became the fastest man in the 100m sprint at the Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Games; Shirin Akhtar has been crowned as the fastest woman in the country.
Ismail won the gold medal in the men's 100m on Saturday with a time of 10.50 seconds on the track at Bangabandhu National Stadium. Abdul Rauf (10.60) of the Navy won the silver medal and Naeem Islam (10.70) of the Bangladesh Air Force won the bronze medal.
Shirin was the best in the women's 100m sprint with a timing of 11.60 seconds.

Shirin's Bangladesh Army teammate Sharifa Khatun (11.70) won the silver medal and Sonia Akhtar (12.10) of Bangladesh Sports Education Institute (BKSP) won the bronze medal in the event.
"I couldn't practice regularly because of Covid-19. Sometimes I came to the field, sometimes I couldn't. Now I've won a gold medal, that's all I could I ask for," said Ismail.
