Kingstown surface different from World Cup, says Litton
The first T20 match begins on 16 December at 6:00 am Bangladesh time, with the remaining two fixtures scheduled for 18 and 20 December at the same venue.
Bangladesh's stand-in captain Litton Das believes the pitch at Kingstown, St. Vincent, has undergone significant changes since the T20 World Cup earlier this year.
As Bangladesh prepare for their three-match T20 series against the West Indies starting on 16 December, Litton is hopeful that the revised conditions could work in their favour.
"The wicket now seems different from what we experienced during the World Cup. When we practised yesterday, it didn't feel the same. They might have prepared it differently," Litton revealed in a video released by the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
During the T20 World Cup, Bangladesh battled on slow and low surfaces at Kingstown, reminiscent of Mirpur, where scoring runs was a challenge.
They posted totals of 159, 106, and 115 in their three matches, managing to win two of them despite struggling to adapt to the sluggish pitch.
However, Litton is confident that this time around, the conditions could provide a better opportunity for his side.
Facing the West Indies at home is never easy, and Litton acknowledged the difficulty of the task ahead. "T20 matches are always tough for us, especially in the West Indies' home conditions," he said. "We'll try to overcome the challenges and put up a good performance in the series."
Bangladesh enter the series without several key players, including regular captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, but Litton feels the team's preparation has been thorough.
"There's no lack of preparation. Most of our players are match-ready, having played in the Tests and ODIs. Even the newer players have had opportunities to practise during sessions," he explained.
The T20 series represents a chance for Bangladesh to regroup after a disappointing 3-0 defeat in the preceding ODI series.
Litton is determined to lead a comeback and adapt to the evolving conditions. "We haven't finalised the team combination yet, but we'll select the best possible XI based on the conditions. Everyone will give their best effort on the field," he said.
The first T20 match begins on 16 December at 6:00 am Bangladesh time, with the remaining two fixtures scheduled for 18 and 20 December at the same venue.
Litton's final message underscored his team's intent: "We'll focus on how to come out of this situation and play a good series."
