Litton Das named T20I captain, Ripon Mondol the new inclusion for West Indies series
The squad also sees the return of several familiar names, including Soumya Sarkar, Shamim Hossain Patwary, and Afif Hossain.
Litton Das is set to lead Bangladesh in the upcoming three-match T20I series against the West Indies, stepping in for regular captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, who is unavailable due to injury.
The squad announcement brought excitement with the inclusion of 21-year-old pacer Ripon Mondol, who has earned his maiden call-up to the senior national team.
Ripon first made waves during the 2022 U-19 World Cup, where he took 13 wickets in six matches, earning a spot in the ICC's Team of the Tournament.
Since then, he has gained experience through domestic cricket, High-Performance (HP) programmes, and the Asian Games, where he picked up four wickets in three matches last year.
The squad also sees the return of several familiar names, including Soumya Sarkar, Shamim Hossain Patwary, and Afif Hossain, while Afif re-enters the squad following his role in the ODI series.
The bowling attack comprises a balanced mix of pace and spin, featuring Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Nasum Ahmed, Sheikh Mehedi Hasan, and leg-spinner Rishad Hossain. Ripon Mondol, who has been on the selectors' radar for his consistent performances in List A cricket, bolsters the pace department.
The three T20Is will be played in Kingstown, Saint Vincent, on 16, 18, and 20 December, marking the conclusion of Bangladesh's tour of the Caribbean.
Following the series, the players will return home to participate in the 11th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
