Mahmudullah hundred not enough as Bangladesh suffer third-biggest defeat in World Cup

Mahmudullah fought hard and scored a brilliant 111 but that was never going to be enough for Bangladesh as they lost the match to South Africa by 149 runs at Wankhede. 

This is Bangladesh's third-biggest defeat in their World Cup history. Bangladesh suffered a 137-run defeat to England at Dharamsala earlier in the campaign which was the third-biggest till tonight.

Bangladesh never looked to be in any sort of position to chase down a monumental target of 383 runs. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were reduced to 81/6 at one point. 

Mahmudullah then fought a lone battle with the tailenders to put up a decent total and reduce the margin of defeat in the end.

Apart from Mahmudullah, Litton Das' 22 was the second-highest score of the innings from Bangladesh batters. 

Gerald Coetzee picked up three wickets while Marco Jansen, Lizaad Williams and Kagiso Rabada all bagged a brace each.

This is his third hundred in ICC Cricket World Cup, and sixth by a Bangladeshi batter.

Hasan Mahmud's stay finally comes to an end as Kagiso Rabada gets his second wicket! Cleverly rolls his fingers over the ball and bowls it on a length, outside off, Hasan Mahmud backs away and frees his arms to go down the ground. Gets done by the lack of pace and skies it high in the air. The ball goes only as far as mid off where Gerald Coetzee settles under it and does the rest. 

Mahmudullah fighting a lone battle as he remains unbeaten on 61.

Gerald Coetzee continues to have a good World Cup with the ball. This is his ninth wicket (playing his fourth game today) in the tournament so far.

It was bowled at 141ks outside off, since the length was short Nasum Ahmed wanted to slap it down the ground but instead managed a top-edge that's been safely held by the bowler in his followthrough. 

South Africa are three away from wrapping things up.

Litton Das departs for a hard-earned 21 from 44 balls as Bangladesh lose half of their side before they reach 60 in the 383-run chase. 

A nip-backer by Rabada, and it beats Litton on the inside edge. It looks plumb. Given lbw, but he reviews. UltraEdge confirms no bat and ball-tracking is three reds! LBW!

Bangladesh are going nowhere in their monumental 383-run chase against South Africa at Wankhede.

They are three down for 34 inside the first nine overs losing Tanzid Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Shakib Al Hasan respectively. 

Shanto was dismissed for a duck. Tanzid bagged 12 and Shakib scored only 1.
