Mithun feeling confident ahead of Gazi Group Chattogram's tournament opener

Mohammad Mithun, the skipper of Gazi Group Chattogram, has stated that he is feeling privileged to have been given the opportunity to lead the side and wants to progress match by match.

"I am privileged that the management entrusted me the captaincy," said Mithun. "I will give my hundred percent to bring the best out of the players. I do not want to think too much ahead. I like to be in the present. So we will progress match by match. Every delivery of a match is significant. The team that plays better cricket on the given day will win."

The teams that are stronger on paper lost in the previous two matches. Pointing out that, the Chattogram skipper said, "We have seen that the cricket played on the field is more important than anything else. The wicket looked good and high-scoring. With time, the quality of cricket will surely increase."

The 29-year old is quite satisfied with his resources and is expecting a positive outcome. "We are a balanced side. Now we must prove it on the field. I reckon if we can play our natural game, we will get positive results," Mithun commented. 

Mithun feels that has the bowling options to recover if someone has a bad day. He said, "As a captain, you need options to back up if someone has a bad day. Not everyone will do well every day. I have the options, so my job will be easier."

Despite having the likes of Liton Das, Soumya Sarkar who are known to be explosive batsmen, Gazi Group Chattogram won't rely on individuals to win matches and play as a unit. "We know how capable Soumya and Liton are. They can win matches on their own. But we will play as a team. Every game is a new game. So the players, even if they fail in two-three matches, will always get the opportunity to bounce back as people will forget the failures once you succeed."

"We bat deep. As I mentioned earlier, we won't depend on one or two players. Anyone can win matches. Even Mustafiz (Mustafizur Rahman) can win a match by hitting a six off the last ball. So, every player is equally important," Mithun added.

Gazi Group Chattogram, other than Mustafizur Rahman, don't have an established fast bowler to lead the bowling attack. Regarding this, Mohammad Mithun said, "We all are aware of his (Mustafizur Rahman) capability. Shoriful (Islam) is a talented bowler. He is pacy and his control is also good. From what I have seen at the nets, Mehadi (Hasan) has great control. Soumya (Sarkar), Zia bhai (Ziaur Rahman) will also roll their arms over if spin doesn't work."
