Mushfiq fined for offensive on-field actions
Mushfiqur accepted the sanction and as such no official hearing was required.
Beximco Dhaka skipper Mushfiqur Rahim has been fined 25 percent of his match fees for breach of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Code of Conduct during his side's Elimnator match against Fortune Barishal in Bangabandhu T20 Cup at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Monday.
Mushfiqur was found guilty of showing insulting gesture towards his teammate Nasum Ahmed during the match which constitutes to a Level 1 (2.6) Offense.
Mushfiqur accepted the sanction and as such no official hearing was required.
The breach was reported by on-field umpires Gazi Sohel and Mahfuzur Rahman, 3rd Umpire Masudul Rahman Mukul and 4th Umpire Muzahiduzzaman Swapon and the penalty was imposed by Match Referee ASM Roquibul Hassan.
The wicket-keeper batsman has faced extreme criticism for his offensive behaviour to Nasum Ahmed during the match. The next morning, Mushfiq admitted his mistake and apologized. Mushfiqur said on Facebook that he also apologized to Nasum. But Nasum, with whom this happened, said it was part of the game and there is no question of Mushfiqur apologizing for this incident.
Although it was part of the game for Nasum, the match referee considered BCB Mushfiqur's behaviour a punishable offense.
Dhaka beat Fortune Barishal in the match and proceeded to the second Qualifier.
