Namibia's talismanic all-rounder David Wiese, who also played for South Africa, has retired from international cricket.
Wiese, 39, finished his international cricket career with a great individual performance, picking up a wicket and scoring a quick-fire 27 against England.
A tall seam-bowling all-rounder, Wiese made his international debut in 2013 for South Africa. Ahead of the 2016-17 season, he went Kolpak, signing a deal with Sussex.
Wiese qualified to play for Namibia on the basis of ancestry and famously led them to an unprecedented Super 12 berth in the 2021 T20 World Cup. He won two Player of the Match awards in that tournament.
In the ongoing tournament, he has been Namibia's key performer, batting and bowling for them in the famous Super Over win against Namibia.
Wiese opened the bowling against a big-hitting England team and kept them quiet in his opening spell with an array of variations.
Namibia retired opener Niko Davin out to allow Wiese have a hit in his final game. He struck two sixes and a four off T20I bowling leader Adil Rashid in the same over in his 27 off 12.
Wiese, now a globetrotting T20 player, has 532 runs and 35 wickets in 34 T20Is in his three-year career for Namibia.
