National team coaches talk in English too: Nayeem

It looks like as if the Sylhet Thunder team in the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 2019-20 was made to give birth to controversies. Their overseas recruit, Krishmar Santokie bowled a huge no-ball in their first game and they have only managed to win one out of their nine games. Herschelle Gibbs, the Sylhet Thunder head coach, sparked another controversy on Wednesday when he said that there was a communication gap between the players and him because of the players not understanding English. But on Thursday after losing to Cumilla Warriors in the super over, Sylhet's young off-spinner Nayeem Hasan contradicted the coach saying that the team was not failing because of not understanding English. 

Nayeem, in the post-match press conference, said that not understanding English was not the problem of the team and added that the coaches of the national team also talked in English. 

"I don't think not understanding English is the problem. The coaches of the national team talk in English too. You can understand the rest," the 19-year old said. 

He further added, "We are the ones playing, so the fault is also ours. If everyone played well from their respective positions, we would have done well as a team."

Asked about Sylhet's miserable condition, Nayeem replied, "The result of the match is God's will. What we can do is give our all on the field. Nobody can say before the match that they will win. Maybe we are going through a tough phase."

With only one win from their nine games, Sylhet are out of contention for a playoff spot and now sit rock bottom of the points table.
