Neymar's stint in the Saudi Pro League has been marked by an astonishing salary and persistent injuries. The Brazilian star managed to play just 42 minutes of competitive football in 2024 but still earned a staggering €101 million from his contract with Al-Hilal.

The former Barcelona and PSG forward joined Al-Hilal in 2023 for a record-breaking €90 million transfer fee, making him the most expensive signing in the league's history. However, Neymar's time in Saudi Arabia has been plagued by injuries, with his ruptured ACL sidelining him after just five games. This setback led Al-Hilal to deregister him to free up a foreign player spot for Brazilian left-back Renan Lodi.

The 31-year-old's fitness struggles are nothing new. Neymar has missed over 200 matches for club and country since suffering an ankle sprain at Barcelona in January 2014. He has spent more than 1,000 days in recovery over the past decade, with his most recent setback being a hamstring strain.
His last competitive appearance was in November 2024, when he played 29 minutes in an AFC Champions League match against Esteghlal. Since joining Al-Hilal, Neymar has made just seven appearances, casting doubt on his long-term future at the club.
Neymar's transfer value has significantly declined over the years. Once valued at a record £198 million when PSG signed him in 2017, his current value on Transfermarkt has dropped to just £12 million.
With his contract set to expire in the summer, Neymar's limited contributions and ongoing fitness concerns could see him depart Saudi Arabia before the end of his deal.
