Rahi-Rabby heroes as Bangladesh A dominates Afghanistan A
Afghanistan A's meagre 122 was chased down by bangladesh A comfortably with seven wickets in hand.
Bangladesh A have won the third match of their one day series against Afghanistan A by seven wickets to reincarnate their hopes in the series. Abu Jayed Rahi was adjudged Man of the Match for his four wickets.
Winning the toss at Chattogram’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Bangladesh A skipper Imrul Kayes opted to field first. The decision was an instant hit as Abu Jayed Rahi trapped Rahmunllah Gurbaz LBW on the second ball. He and off spinner Mahedi Hassan wreaked havoc in the powerplay as the Afghans lost four wickets within the first ten overs. The visitors never recovered from that blow, and somehow scrambled their way to 122. Rahi picked up an impressive figure of 4 for 28, whereas Mahedi picked up three wickets costing 24 runs. Abu Hider Rony and Nazmul Islam Apu picked up one wicket each.
In reply, Bangladesh are in a spot of bother straight away as opener Naim Sheikh was bowled by Farid Ahmed Malik in the third over. The trouble increased when skipper Imrul Kayes and Zakir Hassan were sent back to the pavilion within the powerplay. But from there Fazle Rabby and Afif Hossain put up an unbeaten 75 run stand to guide Bangladesh A to victory. Fazle Rabby was unbeaten on 57, whereas Afif was unbeaten on 21.
This win means Bangladesh A have crawled their way back into the series with a dominant victory, the series now stands at 2-1, Afghanistan A still holding on to a narrow lead. The fourth one-day between the sides will be held on 27th July at BKSP.
