Rain spoils second day of Kanpur Test
Rain had allowed just 35 overs of play on the first day, with Bangladesh reaching 107-3 in their first innings after being sent in to bat.
The second day of the second Test between Bangladesh and India has been abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain and a wet outfield at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur today.
Rain had allowed just 35 overs of play on the first day, with Bangladesh reaching 107-3 in their first innings after being sent in to bat.
Heavy rain yesterday evening and continued drizzle this morning led the umpires to call for an early lunch.
There was some hope of play resuming after the rain subsided briefly, and super soppers were used to soak up the water from the covers. However, with no sunshine and rain returning shortly after, those hopes were dashed, and the umpires called off play at around 2:00 PM local time.
Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim, unbeaten on 40 and six respectively, are expected to resume their innings on Day 3, as the weather forecast in Kanpur looks more favourable on Sunday.
