Rangpur ride on Hales ton to strike Sylhet down
Hales was ably deputised by Saif Hassan who scored 80 runs from 49 balls as Rangpur won by eight wickets with six deliveries to spare.
An Alex Hales century helped Rangpur Riders make easy work of a 206-run target set by Sylhet Strikers as they won the first match of the Sylhet phase of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025 on Monday.
Hales was ably deputised by Saif Hassan who scored 80 runs from 49 balls as Rangpur won by eight wickets with six deliveries to spare.
The England opener remained unbeaten at the other end with 113 runs from just 56 balls in an innings that had 10 boundaries and seven sixes.
Earlier, batting first, Sylhet posted what looked like a formidable total of 205/4 in their 20 overs with half-centuries from opener Rony Talukdar and top-order batter Zakir Hasan.
The win helped early tournament favourites and Global Super League T20 winners Rangpur win four out of their four games and top the table while Sylhet remain winless from their two matches.
