Ronaldo and Messi included in 2024 Fifpro Men's World 11 shortlist, no Salah
Despite having a staggering 60 G/A, Liverpool star Mo Salah has not been nominated for the best XI.
Fifpro has revealed the list of nominated players for the Men's World XI, which will be selected by the worldwide players' organisation. Among the nominees, Lionel Messi, 37, and Cristiano Ronaldo, 39, are the only players not representing European clubs.
No players from South American or African clubs, nor from Italian clubs, were included in the shortlist.
Barcelona's 17-year-old prodigy Lamine Yamal, who emerged as a breakout star during Spain's European Championship triumph, also made the roster, which was compiled from votes by union members worldwide.
Cristiano Ronaldo, currently playing for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, and Lionel Messi, now with Inter Miami in Major League Soccer, will discover on 9 December if they are included in the final World XI.
Seven of the eleven Premier League players named in the 2024 Fifpro squad of the year hail from Manchester City, the reigning league champions.
Real Madrid, the European champions, have eight nominees—the highest of any team—including Kylian Mbappé, who joined the club from Paris Saint-Germain during the summer.
Manchester City's nominees include goalkeeper Ederson, defenders Ruben Dias and Kyle Walker, midfielders Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne, and Phil Foden, as well as forward Erling Haaland.
