Bangladesh fast-bowler Shahadat Hossain might face a one year ban for physically assaulting a team-mate during a National Cricket League (NCL) game. He was withdrawn in the middle of his team Dhaka's match against Khulna after the incident took place.
The fast bowler, who featured for Bangladesh in 38 Tests, allegedly hit his teammate Arafat Sunny regarding the matter of shining the ball. Apparently, Dhaka Division players had to intervene and stop the veteran fast bowler.
His actions amounted to a Level 4 offence which can now lead to seeing the seamer banned for one year from all forms of cricket in Bangladesh along with a fine of 50,000 takas. The NCL technical committee will decide Shahadat's punishment on Tuesday.
A disciplinary breach is not new for Shahadat as he was arrested in 2015 for beating up his domestic maid. This incident also saw him suspended and the fast bowler's career has hit a dead end since then.
