Shakib's Galle Marvels owner arrested for match-fixing proposal

Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is playing for the Galle Marvels in the Lanka T10 Super League. The franchise owner, Prem Thakur, has been arrested on charges of offering a match-fixing proposal.

The Galle team was scheduled to face the Bangla Tigers in Hambantota last Thursday, 12 December. However, the match was abandoned due to rain. Prem Thakur was arrested the same day at the Pallekele Stadium. According to media reports, he was detained by Sri Lanka's Sports Police.
It has been revealed that Prem Thakur allegedly approached a West Indies player from Galle Marvels with a match-fixing proposal. Instead of accepting the offer, the player promptly reported the matter to the police, leading to Thakur's arrest.
