Shanto uncomfortable with frequent Covid-19 testing
Shanto also said that it is difficult for every cricketer to find their rhythm after such a long break but if they all manage to keep a positive mindset.
Ahead of the scheduled Sri Lanka tour, the Bangladesh national team have started their group training at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur, staying within the bio-secure bubble created by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). During this period, the cricketers have been going through continuous Covid-19 tests as they have already been tested twice, with Saif Hassan testing positive in the first test and Abu Jayed Rahi testing positive in the second.
Bangladesh batsman, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, who is part of the 27-man squad, said on Thursday that he felt uncomfortable with the frequent Covid-19 testing.
"To go through Covid-19 tests frequently makes me a little uncomfortable. The sample collection from the nose, the testing - for me it's a bit uncomfortable. And nobody feels well to stay in quarantine. I don't feel well staying within such security. But I am coping up with it slowly and we will have to practice and play in this manner. Slowly, I am enjoying it," Shanto informed.

Shanto also said that it is difficult for every cricketer to find their rhythm after such a long break but if they all manage to keep a positive mindset. He said, "It is difficult for every cricketer to find their rhythm. But now as everyone is training together, if everyone is in a positive mindset, we can all find our rhythm soon. It is definitely difficult so I am trying to find my rhythm through practice."
Shanto said that the lockdown was very difficult as he never had such a long break in his cricketing career. But he went on to shed light on a positive side of the lockdown as the Rajshahi-born batsman said that it helped him analyse his game.
"Another positive side of the lockdown was that I got the time to reflect on my past mistakes. I have worked on those. I believe that I will be able to make use of them in the future. I could analyse my performances during this lockdown which helped me and I believe that it will help me in the future," the left-handed batsman added.
Shanto also added that he played well in his last few innings and hopes to prolong his innings' in the future. He said, "I think I have batted well in my last 2-3 innings. What I want is to prolong those innings and perform regularly. The important thing in my batting is to get set and play a big innings."
