Three Indians arrested in Chattogram on suspicion of gambling
The National Security Intelligence (NSI) arrested them on suspicion of being involved with an international cricket betting network. They are- Sunil Kumar (38), Chetan Sharma (33) and Sunny Magu (32).
Test cricket has returned to Bangladesh after almost a year. Due to the threat posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Test match, as well as the ODI series earlier, have been played behind closed doors. Meanwhile, three Indian men have been detained on suspicion of gambling from the main gate of the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.
The National Security Intelligence (NSI) arrested them on suspicion of being involved with an international cricket betting network. They are- Sunil Kumar (38), Chetan Sharma (33) and Sunny Magu (32).
They have been handed over to the local police for further interrogation and investigation.
Officer-in-Charge of Pahartali Police Station said, "NSI members arrested three people and brought them to the police station. Different types of international gambling rackets are active now. The NSI suspects that the three arrested Indians are members of the network."
He added that some videos have been found from the arrested Indians, mentioning that they did not have any special materials related to gambling. "However, some videos have been found on the mobile. We are checking. If we find any evidence, legal action will be taken against them," he said.
