Internet to be slowed down for 4 hrs on 30 Jan
The authorities of Sea-Me-We-5 will carry out maintenance work on the submarine cable
Internet users in Bangladesh may face a slowdown in Internet speed between 2am and 6am on 30 January, said Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Ltd (BSCCL).
During this period, the authorities of Sea-Me-We-5 will carry out maintenance work on the submarine cable. As a consequence, all circuits terminated to Kuakata Landing Station via Sea-Me-We-5 will remain closed.
However, the circuits of submarine cable-- Sea-Me-We-4 and ITC operator will remain operational, the BSCCL said through a press release on Tuesday.
The overall Internet service will remain okay, but the users may face a little bit of slowdown, it added.
Bangladesh joined the Southeast Asia-Middleeast-Western Europe-5 (Sea-Me-We-5) submarine cable in 2017 through the second submarine cable landing station in Kalapara of Patuakhali.
Earlier in 2005, Bangladesh joined the Sea-Me-We-4 submarine cable for the first time.
