Lebanese woman killed after fleeing bombs four times
Rihab Faour, a 33-year-old Lebanese mother, was killed alongside her husband and two young daughters after enduring four attempts to flee Israeli airstrikes in a year of relentless conflict.
The family's journey for safety ended on 10 October, when an Israeli bomb levelled their temporary apartment in Beirut's Basta neighbourhood, reports BBC.
Rihab's ordeal began in October 2023, when clashes between Hezbollah and Israel erupted after Hamas attacked Israel.
Her family fled their southern Lebanese village for the capital, only to be forced to move multiple times as Israeli airstrikes expanded to Beirut.
Despite leaving their home and possessions behind, the family never found safety.
After relocating to Basta, they had just begun settling into a new apartment when a US-made JDAM bomb hit their building. The strike, reportedly targeting senior Hezbollah figure Wafiq Safa, killed 22 people, including Rihab, her husband Saeed, and daughters Tia, 9, and Naya, 7.
Safa, the alleged target, was not present and later appeared unharmed.
"They fled four times, and each time they thought they would be safe. But nowhere was safe," said Rihab's uncle.
Rihab, who had been pursuing a law degree before marrying Saeed in 2013, dreamed of providing a better life for her daughters. Instead, she was left with the pain of displacement and loss.
