Modi-Biden meeting discussed Bangladesh situation: Indian foreign secretary
Bangladesh was also a key topic of discussion during the Quad summit, he said.
Issues related to Bangladesh were discussed during a bilateral meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden, reports Indian Express citing India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.
The US president hosted Modi at his personal residence in Wilmington, Delaware yesterday (21 September) and the two leaders held wide-ranging talks covering various key aspects of India-US ties.
Vikram Misri noted that the two leaders had discussed the Bangladesh situation during their phone conversation last month as well. Modi had flagged the situation of minorities, including Hindus, in Bangladesh.
Biden hosted the Quad Leaders' summit in Wilmington and apart from Modi, it was also attended by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
Misri said Bangladesh was also a key topic of discussion during the Quad summit, reports ANI.
Responding to a question during a press briefing in New York, Misri said, "As I said, these discussions cover subjects that are in the region. They may be of bilateral interest to one party or the other but they do have significance beyond the region as well.
"And in this context, a number of situations came up for discussion. Bangladesh also figured in the discussions, and there was an exchange of views about the situation."
