Libyan militias in a revenge attack shot and killed 26 Bangladeshi migrants in the southern Libyan city of Mizda on Thursday.
Fortunately, one of the victims, a Bangladeshi who survived, told the Bangladesh embassy over the phone that he had been hiding in a Libyan shelter.
He further informed the embassy that a total of 38 Bangladeshis including him were taken hostage by a group of Libyan militia miscreants near the town of Mizda on their way to Tripoli 15 days ago when they were crossing the desert from Benghazi in search of work.

The captives killed the main Libyan kidnapper while they were inhumanely torturing the hostages for ransom. In retaliation, the Libyan militia fired indiscriminately at them, killing 26 Bangladeshis, and 11 others were shot in the arms, legs, chest and back.
After receiving the news, the officials of Bangladesh Embassy contacted the director of Mizda Hospital and arranged first aid for the injured and they have also been in regular contact with the Director General of the Libyan Department of Health and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Libya to ensure the best possible treatment for the injured.
