A Bangladeshi man, reported missing by his family 6 months ago has been found in Thailand
Abu Al-Kasim, 30, was tracked down by immigration police on Thursday in a ninth-storey hotel room in Bang Na, southeast Bangkok, where he was staying with a Thai woman, says Thai daily The Nation.
Al-Kasim had gone to Thailand in May 2024, before dropping out of contact with his family.
A search of the room turned up almost 2 grams of crystal methamphetamine ("ice") hidden inside a snack box.
Thai police said he admitted to possessing narcotics, saying he had become fascinated by the freedom in Thailand, which led him to try narcotics.
He was escorted to Bang Na police station and charged with possessing narcotics and overstaying his visa.
