Unemployment rate will be kept in check
We see that government expenditure in the package gets priority as consumer spending in the private sector and exports have fallen
The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) welcomes the package announced by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The package will help keep the unemployment rate low and economic activities normal.
I believe the package will be utilised in a focused and targeted manner in the country's micro, small and large enterprises, as well as the agriculture, manufacturing and service sectors.
We see that government expenditure in the package gets priority as consumer spending in the private sector and exports have fallen.
Analysing the package, we see that if any sector develops unemployment and a single concerned sector worker or employee goes back home without a job, the government has measures in place to support his or her livelihood for the next six months.
This year will be tough, but we believe that we will be able to move forward riding on public and private co-operation schemes. We will be able to shake off the virus fallout through the structured implementation of the financial stimulus package.
