3 APBn members put on 7-day remand in Sinha murder case

A Cox's Bazar court has placed three members of the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) on a seven-day remand in connection with the Major (Retd) Sinha Rashed Khan murder case.
Tamanna Farah, judge of Senior Judicial Magistrate Court-3, Teknaf, granted the remand on Tuesday after RAB produced them before the court with a 10-day remand plea.
Earlier on August 18, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the three APBn members for their involvement with the Sinha murder case.

The arrestees are- Assistant Sub-Inspector Shahjahan, constables Rajib and Abdullah. They were on duty at the APBn checkpost on the day Sinha was killed.
With these arrests, the number of those arrested in Sinha's murder rose to 13.
Ten people, arrested earlier in the murder case, are - former OC Pradeep Kumar Das, Inspector Liakat, SI Nanda Dulal Rakkhit, SI Liton, Constables Safanur Karim, Kamal Hossain and Abdullah Al Mamun, and three witnesses in the Sinha murder case filed by the police: Nurul Amin, Nizam Uddin and Mohammad Ayas of Marishbunia, Baharchhara of Teknaf.
On July 3, Sinha went to Cox's Bazar with Shipra Debnath, Shahedul Islam Sifat and Taskin to film a travel video. Major (retd) Sinha was shot dead by police at Shamlapur check post on the night of July 31 on his way back to Nilima Resort in Himchhari area of Cox's Bazar on Marine Drive after filming a video on Marishbunia hill in Teknaf. At that time, the police arrested Sifat who was with Sinha and sent him to jail. Shipra was later apprehended from the resort. Both are currently out on bail.
Two cases have been registered by the police in connection with the killing of Major (retd) Sinha at the Shamlapur check post in Teknaf on the night of July 31. A case was registered at Teknaf police station. The case alleges obstruction of government work and death in a shooting. Sifat was made the accused in that case. Shipra Debnath was made an accused in a drug case filed with Ramu Police Station under the Drug Control Act.
On August 5, Sinha's elder sister filed a murder case in the same court against dismissed Teknaf Police Station OC Pradeep Kumar Das, Baharchhara police outpost in-charge Inspector Liakat Ali, police station SI Nandalal Rakkhit and nine others.
