3 labourers killed in separate road accidents in Ctg’s Sitakunda
Three labourers were killed in separate road accidents today on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Sitakunda upazila, Chattogram.
Two of them lost their lives when a speeding truck rammed a paddy harvester laden 'nasimon' from behind at the Siraj Bhuiyan Rastar Matha area on the Dhaka-bound lane of the highway around 5:25pm.
The deceased were identified as Mohammad Khokan and Mohammad Rana.
Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kumira Highway Police Station Jahangir Alam told The Business Standard that the nasimon was en route to Netrokona from Chattogram.
"When it reached the Siraj Bhuiyan Rastar Matha area, a speeding truck collided with it from behind, killing two laborers aboard," he said.
"Police have recovered the bodies and detained the truck. Legal proceedings are underway," the OC added.
Earlier in the morning, a construction worker was killed when an unidentified vehicle hit him from behind at the Shitalpur Bakula Bazar area in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Taiz Uddin.
Abdul Mumin, OC of Barawlia Highway Police Station, said an unidentified vehicle struck Taiz Uddin while he was walking beside the highway around 11:30am, leaving him dead on the spot.
"The body was recovered and sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital. His family has also been informed," he added.
