The traffic congestion on Dhaka-Tangail highway continues on Saturday, resulting in extreme sufferings of the Eid holidaymakers.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Tangail) Ahaduzzaman said heavy rain on Thursday night and several minor road accidents on the highway caused the congestion.

“That was the situation on Friday night. As the day progresses, the situation is getting worse,” he added.
There was another gridlock in Sirajganj, forcing the Bangabandhu Bridge authority to stop collecting tolls several times.
The traffic congestion on the highway did not ease till Saturday morning.
He said some 700 policemen were working to keep the traffic situation normal.
The traffic situation would improve within a short time, he added.
