5 detained over death of rickshaw puller without treatment at hospital gate
Police have detained five people in connection with the death of a rickshaw puller who reportedly succumbed to gunshot wounds after being denied treatment at Delta Health Care Hospital in the capital's Rampura during the mass uprising.
Hatirjheel Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Raju confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
"It has not been decided yet whether a new case will be filed against them or whether they will be shown arrested in a previous case," he said.
According to police, during student protests in the capital's Rampura, rickshaw puller Ismail was shot by police in front of Delta Health Care Hospital. He crawled to the hospital for treatment but no one opened the door.
Ismail reportedly died on the stairs of the hospital due to excessive bleeding.
