ACC sues ex-MP Solaiman Hoque Joarder, wife over illegal wealth
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against former Chuadanga-2 lawmaker Solaiman Haque Joardar Saloon and his wife Akhtari Joarder over allegations of accumulating wealth beyond known sources of income.
The case was filed today (2 January), ACC Director General (Prevention) Md Akhtar Hossain confirmed to The Business Standard.
"Joarder abused his power to illegally acquire wealth amounting to Tk7.55 crore through bribery and corruption. Additionally, he transferred and laundered Tk15.71 crore by moving funds through bank accounts and investing in various businesses."
His wife, Akhtari Joarder, allegedly assisted her husband in corruption and acquired Tk4.05 crore of wealth beyond known sources of income, said the ACC DG.
She also transferred and laundered Tk7.60 crore through bank accounts and investments under the guise of various businesses, he added.
Earlier, on 23 December the Dhaka Metropolitan Judge Court ordered to freeze a total of 35 bank accounts of Joarder, who is also the president of Chuadanga District Awami League, his wife and daughter.
