Army Chief, General Aziz, inaugurates Army Pharma in Gazipur
The factory with modern technology, will produce various medical essentials
Chief of Bangladesh Army Staff, General Aziz Ahmed, has inaugurated Army Pharma, a pharmaceutical company of the Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory in Gazipur.
The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate made the disclosure with a press release on Thursday.
Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory is a state owned limited company under management of the Bangladesh Army.
An Army Pharma Limited factory is being built under the supervision of Elomatic Consulting and Engineering Pvt Ltd, in Shimultoli of Joydebpur.
The factory with modern technology, will produce various medical essentials including tablets, capsules, injections, syrups, suspensions, cream, ointments, antibiotics, suppositories, and inhalers.
It will also produce vaccines, biotechnology, hormones, anti-cancer drugs, herbal medicine, agrovet products, and medical devices.
Terming it his dream project, the Army chief said the country's people suffer from different ailments. He requested the Army Pharma authorities to make the medicines accessible for retired Army members and the underprivileged in the country.
Army Pharma will play a vital role in the health sector under the skilled direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and will shortly become a leading medicine producing company in the country, he hoped.
To fight the Covid-19 pandemic, Army Pharma has already produced and distributed face masks, sanitizers, and handwash antiseptic solutions, with approval of the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA).
