And the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had exceptional leadership skills that elevated him as the undisputed leader of people.
His steps helped Bangladesh enter into the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement.
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman travelled to the USA, UK and other European nations to get humanitarian and developmental assistance for his war-ravaged nation.
Speakers said this on Tuesday at the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) webinar on "Leadership of Bangabandhu and Its Relevance to the Contemporary World."
Senior officials from different ministries, ambassadors, high commissioners, senior civil and military officials, media men, academics, and students from different universities participated in the webinar.
Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen was the chief guest at the programme while BIISS Director General Major General Md Emdad Ul Bari moderated it and delivered the welcome address.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's Political Adviser HT Imam delivered the keynote speech at the webinar where he discussed the political vision of Bangabandhu.
Imtiaz Ahmed, professor of International Relations department and director of the Center for Genocide Studies at the University of Dhaka, talked about Bangabandhu's foreign policy and diplomacy.
Also, Muhammad Zamir, former ambassador and chief information commissioner, discussed Bangabandhu's engagement with international organisations and his contribution to the enhancement of multilateral relations.
Professor Dr Syed Anwar Husain, Bangabandhu chair professor at the Bangladesh University of Professionals, talked about the Father of the Nation's role in international peace and security.
And Professor Dr Selim Jahan – visiting fellow at the Columbia University and the University of Oxford – discussed Sheikh Mujib's contribution to the economy and development of Bangladesh.
