Bangladesh Coast Guard and joint forces control fire in Saint Martin's resorts
A fire broke out early this morning at the Beach Valley Eco Resort, located near West Beach on Saint Martin's Island, leaving the resort severely damaged. Lieutenant Commander Md. Siam-ul-Haque, Media Officer at the Coast Guard Headquarters, confirmed the incident.
The emergency was reported around 2:30 AM on January 15 through the 999 service, prompting an immediate response from the Coast Guard Station in Saint Martin. The Coast Guard's rescue team arrived promptly at the scene and worked tirelessly to contain the fire. Despite their efforts, the Beach Valley Eco Resort was entirely destroyed, with the fire also impacting the reception area of the Sayari Eco Resort and part of the Kingshuk Resort's beachfront.
With coordinated efforts from the Bangladesh Navy, Coast Guard, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and local residents, the fire was brought under control by approximately 5:30 AM.
Initial investigations suggest that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit in the reception area of the Sayari Eco Resort, which quickly spread to the Beach Valley Eco Resort and nearby solar panels.
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported among tourists or local residents.
