Bangladesh signs manpower exporting agreement with Seychelles
A temporary ban by Seychelles government on Bangladeshi labour has been lifted through signing the deal, said a press release.
Bangladesh has signed an agreement with Seychelles to export manpower to the island country on Monday.
The agreement signing ceremony was held in Victoria, the capital of Seychelles.
Minister for Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry Imran Ahmed signed the deal on behalf of Bangladesh while Minister for Employment, Immigration and Civil Status Ministry Miz Marium Telemak. represented Seychelles.

Imran Ahmed also expressed his hope that the agreement will also open the door for bilateral business cooperation between the two countries in line with the development of labour market.

In October 2018, Seychelles government temporarily imposed ban on Bangladeshi labour.
Later, both the countries expressed interest in signing a labour cooperation deal to export Bangladeshi manpower to Seychelles through a well disciplined and structured way.
In line with that purpose, a high-up representative team from Seychelles came to visit Bangladesh in March this year. The team held a meeting with the Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry in Bangladesh.
At present, around 2,500 Bangladeshi have been working in various fields mostly in construction industry of the country. Moreover, Bangladeshi labourers hold one of the major parts of foreign labour market in Seychelles.
Bangladeshi High Commissioner to Seychelles Rezina Ahmed, Joint Secretary for Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry Md Fazlul Karim, Deputy Secretary Mohammad Shahin, Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training Director DM Atikur Rahman were present during the agreement signing ceremony.
