Bank accounts of Omar Faroque, family frozen
The banks have been notified of the order
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has frozen the bank accounts of former Jubo League chairman Mohammad Omar Faroque Chowdhury, his family members and two business institution.
In an order released today, the NBR said, "The bank accounts of Faroque's wife Sheikh Sultana Rekha, his sons Abid Chowdhury, Muktadir Ahmed Chowdhury and Ishtiaq Ahmed Chowdhury have been frozen."
The order also states that the bank accounts of two business institutions, namely Lake View Properties Limited and RAO Construction Limited have also been frozen because Faroque was involved in those companies.
The banks have been notified of the order.
Earlier on Sunday, Omar Faroque Chowdhury was relieved from all organisational duties of Jubo League.
The decision came from a meeting at Ganabhaban chaired by Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
