BGB seizes Indian goods worth over Tk1 crore along Sylhet border

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have seized Indian goods worth approximately Tk1.21 crore during operations along the Sylhet border.
According to a media release signed by BGB 48 Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Md Hafizur Rahman, the operations were carried out the on night of 21 and 22 November in Panthumai, Bisnakandi, Pratappur, Tamabil areas near the border.
The seized items include Indian saris, winter blankets, sugar, dried fish, chocolates, biscuits, snacks, beef, soap, alcohol, Bangladeshi garlic, airsac catfish, Mahindra tractors, and boats used for illegal stone extraction.
The estimated market value of the confiscated goods is approximately Tk1.21 crore, the release stated.
The commander said, "In compliance with directives from higher authorities, BGB continues its operational and intelligence activities seamlessly to ensure border security and curb smuggling.
"Necessary actions will be taken regarding the seized goods in accordance with the rules," he added.
