BNP says 8 party men arrested in Khulna ahead of its Dhaka rally, police denies
The police, however, denied arresting BNP men in connection with the rally
The BNP has claimed eight of its party men have been arrested in Khulna yesterday, ahead of the party's Dhaka rally scheduled on 28 October.
The police, however, denied arresting BNP men in connection with the rally.
"No arrests are being made ahead of the Dhaka rally. If someone is arrested, that's from being accused in other cases. There is no special operation going on," Khulna District Superintendent of Police Mohammad Sayeedur Rahman said.
Meanwhile, the BNP's Khulna unit named the eight party men who they claim were arrested in a press release on Wednesday (25 October) morning.
"They were arrested on Tuesday [24 October] night to intimidate the BNP from going to the capital," Mizanur Rahman Milton, member secretary of Khulna BNP's media cell, said.
