Bribery charges against ACC director Basir, DIG Mizan finalised
ACC Secretary Didar Bakht said during an enquiry they found proof of bribery allegations against the duo beyond any doubt
The Anti-Corruption Commission has finalised bribery charges against its suspended director Khandaker Enamul Basir and suspended deputy inspector general of police Mizanur Rahman.
ACC Secretary Didar Bakht told The Business Standard that during an enquiry they found the proof of bribery allegations against the duo beyond any doubt.
"And that is why we are going to press charges against them. We will submit the charge-sheet within a few days to the court," he said adding that the graft watchdog on Monday approved the charge-sheet.
ACC Director Sheikh Md Fanafillah filed a case against DIG Mizan and Bashir on July 16 last year for alleged bribery of Tk40 lakh.
On June 24, ACC Director Manzur Morshed filed a case against DIG Mizan at the Integrated District Office (Dhaka-1) after investigating allegations of illegal wealth acquisition.
In the case, DIG Mizan and his nephew Sub-Inspector Mahmudul Hasan, both are in jail, were charged with amassing illegal assets worth over Tk3.28 crore and hiding information on that.
