British High Commision pledges support to ACC for recovering laundered money
The British High Commission has pledged its support to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in combating corruption, with a focus on addressing money laundering issues.
A four-member British High Commission delegation team met with ACC officials today (6 October).
The discussions centred on recovering laundered money and providing technical assistance to strengthen the ACC's operational capabilities, the commission's Director General Akhtar Hossain told reporters after the meeting.
First Secretary Political Doyin Adele-Shiyabola, Head of Political and Governance Timothy Duckett, NCA International Liaison Officer Peter Vernon and Hannah Ridley were among the delegation.
The meeting discussed cooperation of the United Kingdom in increasing the capacity of the Anti-Corruption Commission, especially in the field of prevention of money laundering and recovery of stolen assets.
The British delegation assured full cooperation to the commission in bringing back money illegally smuggled from Bangladesh to the UK.
