Buet punishes 14 more students for ragging
The expelled and suspended students were residents of Titumir hall
The Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) administration today expelled eight students and suspended six from Titumir hall for their involvement in ragging.
The decision came from Buet's Board of Residence and Discipline of the university today.
Speaking to The Business Standard, Professor Mizanur Rahman, Director of Students' Welfare, said, "A probe committee, formed recently, found evidence of those students' involvement in ragging."

Buet administration expelled the 14 students after the probe report was submitted, he added.
On December 3, the university authorities decided to take strict action against ragging.
According to the decision, "The students will receive ordinary punishment, expulsion from the university for good and as appropriate, the university law officer shall file a case following due process on account of the university if any student rag another one which leads to death, serious, bodily harm, any form of disability, permanent mental imbalance or trauma, disruption of academic life of a fellow student."
