Case filed against Shakib, Ferdous over killing of garment worker during protests
Rafiqul Islam, father of slain garment worker Rubel, filed the case with Adabor police station under Dhaka Metropolitan Police yesterday (22 August).
A murder case has been filed against 156 people, including cricketer and former Awami League lawmaker Shakib Al Hasan and popular actor and former AL lawmaker Ferdous Ahmed, over the killing of a garment worker in the capital during the violence amid protests of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement earlier this month.
Rafiqul Islam, father of slain garment worker Rubel, filed the case with Adabor police station under Dhaka Metropolitan Police yesterday (22 August), confirmed Inspector (Investigation) of Adabor Police Station Md Nazrul Islam.
Former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader were also accused in the case.
About 500 more people have been kept unnamed in the case.
In the case document, the plaintiff said that Rubel was shot by the direct and indirect order of the accused when he took part in a procession at the Ring Road area of Adabor on 5 August.
Rubel was rushed to the hospital with bullets in his chest and stomach, where he died on 7 August.
