Chhatra Dal condemns publication defaming Liberation War, freedom fighters by Chhatrashibir

Jatiyotabadi Chhatra Dal has condemned a publication, which they alleged has been published by Islami Chhatrashibir, for defaming the Liberation War and the freedom fighters.
In a press release issued today (29 January), Chhatra Dal expressed its condemnation, attributing the statement to its President Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir.
Through the release, Chhatra Dal pointed to an article written by one Ahmed Afghani, published in the December issue of Chhatra Sangbad, a paper that Chhatra Dal termed as published by Islami Chhatra Shibir.
The article states that many Muslims joined the Liberation War not knowing what lies ahead, which was their failure and impracticality. This is defamatory and questionable. Islami Chhatrashibir publishes the paper and Shibir's central president is the editor of it, the release reads.
"The Liberation War was not a religious crusade; it was a war of the people against the Pakistani forces. Portraying participation in the war as a mistake is merely an attempt by the losing side of 1971 to conceal their own misdeeds and their egotistic behaviour," the release added.
Such careless publication will create the backdrop for the intellectual reinstatement of fascist Awami League, the release further said.
Through the release, Chhatra Dal urged Chhatra Shibir to apologise for their mistake, while accept and hold the Liberation War as the basis of independent Bangladesh in their hearts
